Applications are invited for role of Chair
With a passion and mission "to provide funding and advice for businesses in South Yorkshire",
Donbac has been reenergised by its Board of Directors and is now looking to appoint a Chair to
succeed the present chair at the end of his term of office in March. Applications are invited for a
suitably experienced individual to continue the momentum and successfully lead both the board
and organisation into a new era of growth in funding activities, to meet the ever changing financing
needs for SME's across the region.
Originally formed over 25 years ago as one of the first Enterprise Agencies in the region, Donbac
helps small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the South Yorkshire region access funding where
they are unable to raise the necessary funding they need from mainstream commercial sources and/
or other loan funds access funding by helping businesses. Donbac created a benchmark Agency,
which many others followed and the business has consistently evolved throughout its history in
order to remain competitive and relevant to the regional business community and its ever changing
finance needs.
Donbac has played a vital enterprise role in the region, supporting client businesses and partner
organisations, investing in other funding organisations, making grant awards for enterprise in
education projects and funding enterprise research. Donbac is now a well-respected, successful,
Enterprise Agency and as a Community Development Finance Institution (CDFI), is a key provider of
advice and microfinance in the region, helping new start and existing businesses.
Interested applicants will have the ability and experience to provide leadership and strategic
direction, particularly in the provision of access to finance and innovative alternative funding
solutions for small businesses contributing to the local and regional economies. Successful
applicants will also have significant contacts in the private, public or third sectors, along with the
ability to raise the company profile and positioning in the sector by working/representation in
appropriate organisations, i.e. CDFI, Funding organisation, Enterprise Agency, Business support.
Time commitment: Approximately 2 days per month.
Remuneration: The role of Chair is an unremunerated position, although expenses for travel may be
claimed.

The story so far……
25 years and still going strong! Some do say that the one constant is "CHANGE" and what better testimony to this than Donbac's, 25 years, adapting to the ever changing business support environment?
25 years ago, Donbac opened as one of the first enterprise agencies in the region and quickly became widely acknowledged as a key deliverer of business advice. With support from British Rail Engineering Ltd, a Loan Fund to help local businesses was added, creating a benchmark agency which others followed.

Over £1 million investment has been made into local businesses!
More than 250 south Yorkshire businesses have accessed funding totaling over £1 million in the last year from Doncaster's own loan fund, Donbac.
In turn this has helped to lever over an additional £1/2 million funding from mainstream banks and other funding sources into these businesses.
