Splash Decorating
For Nicola Clements, starting her own business was a landmark. It represented recovery after a series of personal hardships. After several months, her one-woman painting and decorating business, Splash Decorating, is doing well. "There are time when I'm not so busy," she says. "But I'm really happy with progress. I seem to be going down well." Nicola had spotted a market for a female decorator, which can be attractive for clients such as the elderly. She is gaining quite a reputation in her local area for high-quality work, reasonable prices and her warm personality.
When it came to working further afield however, Nicola needed transport. With financial assistance from Donbac she was able to buy and insure a vehicle. "It really makes a difference," she explains. "I am working over a wider area than I thought initially, and the car is just the right size. The ability to travel has brought security to her start-up, allowing the business to establish itself well. "I did some contracting recently," Nicola says. "It just wouldn't have happened if I couldn't drive out to the site."
